Iris Hansen is a fifth-year master's student at the Architectural Association and founder of studio HIDE. Through HIDE, she investigates local knowledge of landscapes and materials like wood, glass, and wax and collaborates with glassblowers, foresters, or beekeepers to craft her pieces. Her work focuses on ruralism, convivial place-making, and sustainable material cultures. Iris has a particular interest in the relationship between landscapes, people and craftsmanship.
Advocating for a practice rooted in place, where architecture can transcend traditional building, her work aims to reconnect people with their territory, through innovative design, narratives and strategies.
